Craft Along with Spellbinder’s 2024 Crafty Advent Calendar Day 5 & VIDEO

Hello everyone! Woohoo! It is Day 5 of Spellbinder's Crafty Advent Calendar! The door was narrow and tall ... what could it be?! This two piece die set is so much fun and reminds me of handwriting exercises in the classroom from ‘way back when’! Do kids learn to handwrite anymore or do they jump from printing to keyboarding/texting?! LOL!

Be sure to check out the VIDEO TUTORIAL!

  • The shape card was created with dies from the Scallop Labels & Tag die set.

  • To create the card base, a full panel of black card stock was folded in half. The largest die was positioned so that the left hand cutting edge was just off the folded edge of the cardstock. After going through the die cutter, the result is a side folding card base. It will not be symmetrical so a single panel of black cardstock was die cut and adhered to the front.

  • To create the card front, the second largest die was used to cut another piece of black card stock and black sheet foam.

  • The dies from Day 5 were used to cut three tones of pink cardstock. Two die cuts were created from each tone for a total of six elements.

  • The die cuts were adhered to the black card front in a pattern of lightest to darkest for the first three and then repeating it. The overhanging die cuts were trimmed flush to the panel’s edge.

  • Continuing with the Scallop Labels & Tag die set, the tag and the layer were cut from the same dark and medium tone pink card stock used for the background. A hole was punched in the card front and the tag adhered with the holes lined up. A pink ribbon was looped through both of them.

  • The card front was adhered to the foam die cut and then mounted onto the shaped card base.

  • The dies from Day 3 were used to cut pink flowers and mint stems. A small arrangement was created on the right hand corner of the card front. A single flower was used to embellish the tag.

  • The sentiments are from Woodland Tales Sentiments. The script words were cut from cream card stock. The first two words in the phrase were adhered to the tag. The final word, perfect, was adhered to a black shadow die cut that was foam mounted.

  • Half pearls were used to embellish the tag.
