ALL DIE CUT, PAPER PIECED CHRISTMAS CARDS

No stamping, no colouring! These 'all die cut' cards, featuring a number of dies from Simon Says Stamp, are easy to make ... and maybe quick for you but not for me! If you read my last post, I was relaying a d0g walking accident that landed me in emergency. The result was a badly bruised lower leg (knee to ankle!) and a broken bone in my right hand. Yes, I am right

handed! I am in a half cast for several weeks. As you can see, it is bulky and awkward making life more challenging than usual. Having said that, I am pleased that I can still make cards ... slowly. Of course, anything involving fine motor skills such as colouring and painting is out of the question. I am forgoing videos for awhile ... between the time to make the cards and write this post, the editing of a video would have taken too long. S0 on with the cards!

I began by making four A2 sized paper pieced panels. Strips were die cut with Pinkfresh Studio's Color Block Stripes. I worked with several shades of blue card stock by Simon Says Stamp; Sea Glass, Surf Blue, Audrey Blue, Teal and Soft Navy. To make the die cutting easier for me, the strips were mounted on copy paper ... something I will continue to do with paper piecing when I lose the cast! Sookwang Double-sided Tape was used to adhere the strips.

The Shaker

A paper pieced panel, cut with a stitched rectangle die, and white sheet foam were die cut with the outline tree die from Chunky Trees and Holly. Acetate was glued to the underside of panel to close off the tree openings. The sheet foam was attached and trimmed. The openings were filled with sequins and the shaker closed with a panel of white card stock sized the same as the paper pieced panel. The shaker was attached to an A2 sized card base. The sentiment, Falala, was die cut three times and stacked. The sentiment was highlighted with Nuvo Crystal Drops, Caribbean Ocean.

Embossed Background

White card stock was die cut with a stitched rectangle and embossed with Lumen. The tree and holly outline from Chunky Trees and Holly were cut from a paper pieced panel and white sheet foam and stacked, The detail dies were cut from matte gold card stock. The sentiment, Peace, is a tw0 part die set. Matte gold card stock and white foam were cut with the outline die and stacked. The script Peace was cut from the paper piecing and adhered to the outline. The embossed panel was attached to navy card stock and an A2 sized card base. After the elements were attached. the detailed areas of the trees and the berries were highlighted with Nuvo Crystal Drops, Morning Dew.

Joy

One of the paper pieced panels and black sheet foam were die cut a stitched rectangle and trimmed with a die from Slimline Borders and Edges. They were adhered to teal card stock also die cut from the stitched rectangle die. Shimmer Snowflake was cut from teal card stock and black foam and stacked. The sentiment, Chunky Joy, was cut from the paper piecing, black foam and Teal card stock. The teal outline topped the paper pieced Joy. Crystals adorn the snowflake.

Peace

The easiest card ... I used the Chunky Trees and Holly and white foam die cuts from the shaker card and stacked them. A band of paper piecing was adhered to navy card stock and die cut with a stitched rectangle die and mounted on an A2 sized card base. The sentiment, Peace, was dic cut from navy card stock black foam. The card was embellished with Nuvo Crystal Drops, Caribbean Ocean.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR VISIT!
