An Easter BOKEH featuring Woodland Whimsy by Simon Says Stamp

Updated: Jan 12

Hello everyone! Best wishes to you all for a beautiful Easter. My plans for this weekend include spending time with my sister but I did not anticipate that it would be under the circumstances that arose yesterday. Her sweet little dog was injured badly in a dog attack (her dog was on leash and it happened right before her eyes) and we spent the afternoon and evening at the Emergency Animal Hospital. Thankfully all will be well, although, a lengthy recovery is expected. Like me, she is in the midst of preparations for a move and can add nursing her little guy to all the other demands! I will help out as best I can. Yet another reminder that life can take abrupt and unexpected turns!

The Background

I began this Easter/Spring card with a Bokeh background using a stencil I created by die cutting various size circles from acetate. I worked on Bristol Smooth card stock with Distress Oxide inks; Dried Marigold, Shaded Lilac, Spun Sugar and Scattered Straw. I chose soft hues that I associate with Easter. The ink was applied with a light touch. The largest circles were stencilled first and I worked my way down through the sizes.

The Elements

Both white card stock and foam were die cut with Simon Says Stamp's Outline Floral Frame and Spring Blessings. They were stacked. The bunny and bouquet are from Simon Says Stamp's Woodland Whimsy .... a gorgeous and sweet stamp set!!! They were stamped on Bristol Smooth card stock with Distress Oxide inks and the colour pulled out with a water brush pen.

Bouquet Twisted Citron and Worn Lipstick

Bunny Antque Linen and Frayed Burlap

The bunny was stamped twice. First with the lighter colour and followed with Frayed Burlap to create shadow areas. Worn Lipstick was 'painted' on the inside of the bunny's ears and on the nose. Both images were fussy cut on the line and mounted on foam. The card was finished up with iridescent sequins topped up with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
