Hello everyone! If you subscribe to Simon Say's Stamp's Card Kit of the Month, I have a little bit of inspiration for you combining a black out technique with the gorgeous patterned paper included in the kit. Although the kit has sold out, this beautiful 6X8 stamp set, Poppy Perfection, and Moda Scrap 6 by 6 Paper Pack, Spring Poppies, are sold separately. If you have not checked out Simon's monthly card kit, I encourage you do so! Each kit is carefully curated and is a great savings. I love that you can easily opt out for a month if something doesn't quite grab you or the crafting budget has reached the limit!
The images were stamped on white card stock panels with Versamark ink and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.
The images are Copic coloured ... quick and easy! I use Copic Sketch Markers. For the stem and leaves, YG97, 93 and 91 were used. The poppies were coloured with R89, 27 and 20.
The background was coloured black. Typically I would work with Black 100 but I ran out of ink and had to use W10. Because of this, I did have to apply a couple of coats to achieve the solid black background.
After the colouring was complete, the Copic colourless blender was used to remove any alcohol ink sitting on the embossing.
Adhesive was applied to the white area of the card front and a 6 by 6 sheet of patterned paper from Moda Scrap Spring Poppies was adhered.
The card front was flipped to the back and the excess paper was trimmed off with a paper cutter.
Sparkly gold Washi tape was used to create a border between the patterned paper and the stamped image. I don't fully trust adhesive backed images and tapes and added a thin line of liquid adhesive.
The card fronts were adhered to A2 sized, black card bases.
The sentiments were stamped with Versamark ink on black card stock, gold embossed and die cut with Sentiment Labels. To prevent specks of gold on the background, I used Simon's new Brush Powder Tool! So AWESOME!
The sentiments were mounted on black foam before adhering them to the cards.
Studio Katia's Gold Foil Pearls were used as the final touch.
