Hello everyone! I have a ‘sunshiny‘ card using one of the two large hot foil glimmer plate sentiments found in Spellbinders’ Something Special. The sentiment is a perfect match with one of their recently released Embossing Folder of the Month, Radiant Burst. If you have not checked out this club, you should! The folders are sized to accommodate any size of card (including slim lines!) and they are very affordable.
An ink blended background was created using Distress Oxide inks on Bristol Smooth card stock. A combination of Squeezed Lemonade, Dried Marigold, Ripened Persimmon and Spiced Marmalade was applied with blending brushes on an A2 sized panel and a smaller panel for the sentiment.
The sentiment was hot foiled with Aura Glimmer Hot Foil Roll using Spellbinders’ Glimmer Hot Foil System on the smaller panel. The panel and black foam were die cut with a circle die and stacked.
The main panel was trimmed to card front size, 4” by 5 1/4”, and embossed with the Radiant Burst embossing folder. I used Platinum Die Cutting and Embossing Machine with 8.5” Platform and placed the folder directly on the platform with just the top cutting plate. I also used a folded sheet of copy paper as a shim. Depending on the die cutter used, the ‘sandwich’ will vary. I make adjustments until I feel some resistance as the folder is rolled through. However, there should not be so much that a lot of effort is required. The embossed panel was mounted on black foam and on to an A2 sized card base (4 1/4” by 5 1/2”) matted with black card stock ( 4 1/8” by 5 3/8”). The card was embellished with pretty yellow pearls to highlight the sentiment and placed between the broken, embossed radiant lines.
