Hello everyone! Hope you are sitting in front of my blog with a good cup of coffee and hopping along with the Coffee Lovers Hop for lots of card making inspiration! In my opinion, there is absolutely nothing like a GREAT cup of coffee ... meaning strong and flavourful! And if that coffee was served to me with flowers .... perfection!
I did not do a full video of how this card using Graciellie Design's Coffee Queen was made but instead included a TECHNIQUE VIDEO highlighting an embossing trick I use to create coffee foam, whipped cream, snow and a sandy beach!!! I am sure there are other applications!
The Elements
I began by copic colouring my coffee cup image that was printed on 80lb Neenah Solar White card stock. For the cup, I used B04, BG01 and 000. The leaves were coloured with grey greens ... BG99, 96, 93 and 90, R22 and 000 were used on the flowers and R29, 27 and 22 on the coffee beans. Before fussy cutting the image, the whipped cream was embossed using a combination of white embossing powder and Glossy Accents (Embossing Technique Video).
The Background
The background was ink blended with Broken China and Iced Spruce. When the panel was dry, a subtle effect was created by stencilling a trellis design using Unicorn White ink. The panel was die cut with a scalloped edged rectangle and mounted on sheet foam before attaching it to an A2 sized, Neenah Solar White 110lb card base.
The Finishing Touches
After inking over the sentiment panel with the same distress oxide colours used on the background, the panel was embossed with clear embossing powder and die cut using Simon Says Stamp's Thin Circle Frames die. I also die cut the frame in white to replace the inked one and mounted the circle panel on white foam. The coffee cup was attached to the card with foam strips and the sentiment panel was tucked under the flower pods. Nuvo Crystal Glaze was used to give the cup an pretty sheen. The card was finished up with Bohemian Teal Nuvo Vintage Drops.
