Hello everyone! Today marks the conclusion of Spellbinder's 2023 Crafty Advent Calendar with this beautiful whale die set! The background was created with a gel printing plate and the sentiment is from the Day 13 stamp set. I hope you enjoyed this 'Craft Along' series leading up to Christmas. I loved finding some crafty time each day to share with you my take on each of the amazing products included in Spellbinder's Crafty Advent Calendar. Merry Christmas!

The background was created on a oversized panel of Bristol Smooth card stock using a Gel Printing Plate. The first layers of ink, Distress Oxide Fossilized Amber and Dried Marigold, were applied with a brayer. Faded Jeans was focussed on the bottom of the gel plate using a Paper Pouncer. The gel plate was spattered with mica powder that had been mixed with water. The panel was laid down on the gel plate and rubbed.
The panel was spattered using a fan brush with Dr. PH Martin's Bleedproof White.
When dry, it was trimmed down to 4" by 5 1/4".
The whale die cut set from Day 24 consists of 4 dies. The whale was cut from black and white card stock. White card stock strips were placed behind the eye ( we won't leave it white!) and die cut details on the back of the whale. The whale was assembled and adhered to the card front with foam squares.
The water droplets die was used to cut some of the leftover gel printed card stock. The 'splash' was adhered to the panel above the whale's tail.
Day 13's stamp set was used for the sentiment stamped on a strip of vellum paper. Happy birthday was stamped with Versamark and gold embossed. The secondary sentiment was stamped right above it with Black Versafine ink and clear embossed.
The vellum was trimmed and wrapped around the card front using scotch tape to hold it in place.
The panel was adhered to an A2 sized, black card base.
The whale's eye was finished off with Black Nuvo Crystal Drops.
