Hello everyone! Oh my goodness! Spellbinder's new collection, Simon's Snow Globes, is absolutely gorgeous. I am creating a couple of 'mail friendly', pop-up cards using Simon's Snow Globe and an add-on set, Nativity Scene. These interactive cards are fun to make and have great dimension!
First the pop-up snow globe using the dies from the Simon's Snow Globe set! The circle die for the globe was coupled with another slightly smaller circle die from a nesting die set. Tape was used to hold the two dies together and black card stock was cut two times for each globe. The circle die for the snow globe was also used to cut Bristol Smooth card stock.
The base for the snow globe was cut twicee from black card stock and once from gold foil card stock.
To create the pop-up action, black card stock was cut to 1/2" by 1 1/2". Four springs are needed for each snow globe. The tabs were scored at 1/2", 3/4" and 1 1/4". The tabs were creased downwards in the centre and the two score lines on either end creased upwards.
The circles were adhered to the back of the bases laying one complete snow globe on another to ensure they are aligned. For the Nativity Scene, the solid circle was ink blended with Distress Oxide inks Squeezed Lemonade, Mermaid Lagoon and Chipped Sapphire. The top 2/3 of the circle was spattered with Distress Stain Brushed Pewter. For the other snow globe, the circle was embossed with Sparkling Snow 3D Embossing Folder.
Two tabs were adhered to either side of the gold foil and black bases with the frame circle globe. The three globes were then adhered together with the solid circle at the back and the gold foil base at the front.
The Nativity Scene and sentiment was cut from cream card stock and the layering elements assembled.
Mary and the baby Jesus was adhered to the back panel.
The stable and shepherd were adhered to the centre base and the palm trees to the back of the gold base.
Nuvo Glitter Drops White Blizzrd was added to the star. When dry, it was adhered to the back panel positioning it above the peek of the stable.
To avoid smearing glue on the foil paper, the sentiment was dotted with Tombow glue and left to dry until it was in its tacky state.
The globe was adhered to a black, A2 sized card base.
The elements for this globe are found in Simon's Snow Globe. The scene was mostly created from white glitter card stock with touches of blue tones to accent the larger two houses.
Black card stock was adhered behind the window openings and used to die cut Santa and the lamp posts.
The white glitter sentiment was adhered with Tombow glue in its tacky state.
A white panel of card stock was embossed with the Sparkling Snowflake 3-D embossing folder, and adhered to an A2 sized card base. The globe was mounted to the background.
