Easy Rainbow Emboss Resist featuring Picket Fence Studios’ Plenty of Fish

Updated: Jun 10, 2022

Hello everyone! I have a pair of cards featuring a wonderful stamp set by Picket Fence Studios, Plenty of Fish. The main image of this set was used to create an ‘under the sea’ rainbow using a simple emboss resist technique.

The image was stamped with Distress Oxide inks on Bristol Smooth card stock. A stamping platform is essential for the succession of stampings to create the rainbow. Ink cubes work better than standard sized ink pads for applying each colour in bands across the image:

  • Barn Door, Carved Pumpkin, Squeezed Lemonade, Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers, Seedless Preserves

  • Picked Raspberry, Carved Pumpkin, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon, Seedless Preserves

When each panel was completely inked, it was embossed with clear embossing powder. The panels were stencilled with Slim Line Ocean using Tumbled Glass and Cracked Pistachio. The panel with the red fish also had Shaded Lilac incorporated in the ocean colours. The panels were trimmed down to 4" by 5 1/4" and mounted on black foam. The foam backed panels were adhered to A2 card bases matted with black card stock.

Sentiments from Add Colour to Your Life were stamped with Intense Black ink and clear embossed on card stock stencilled to match the backgrounds. The sentiments were trimmed and mounted on foam. The cards were embellished with crystals and sequins from Under the Sea Sequin Plus Mix. The sequins were finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
