Today‘s post is all about ‘birthdays’ featuring Simon Says Stamp’s FANCY CAKE SET in a variety of 'fun fold' mini slimlines! Each card is unique but they share the fabulous die cuts from the feature set and the same colour palette. All of these cards are EASY and FUN to make … my prerequisites for any undertaking these days! I am all over the place lately and sitting down to create this project was therapy … little thinking involved!
WHAT'S THE SAME!
This set of cards feature some or all of the dies included in the FANCY CAKE SET. I am using a beautiful collection of 100lb card stock by Recollections called Rose Petals from Michael's. There are four different tones ranging from ivory to soft pink. All of the cards are mini slimline size and are 3 1/4" by 6 1/4".
SHADOW BOX with a FLAT SHAKER MINI SLIMLINE
two pieces of card stock 5 1/4" by 6 1/4" ... two inches added to the width to accommodate the folds on either side of the panel
score long sides on each side of both panels at 1/2" and 1" and crease into a 'Z'
die cut one panel with the outline cake die with the die cut of the top of the cake stand positioned below the bottom of the cake die
a corner of packaging material was filled with clear iridescent sequins
double sided tape seals the shaker and the pouch is adhered to the underside of the panel
put the two panels together with double sided tape.
four candles were die cut from the four colours of card stock and white glitter paper.
flames were trimmed off the glitter candles and adhered to the card stock ones
cake stand and candles adhered to card
Simon's HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRUSH SCRIPT die cut from glitter paper, dotted with Tombow glue and left to dry until tacky before positioned on the window
sequins topped with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew complete the card
MINI SLIMLINE GATEFOLD
card stock cut to 9 3/4" by 6 1/4" and scored at 3 1/4" and 6 1/2".
panel folded and burnished with a bone folder to create a 'gate fold'
card front stencilled with Simon's Falling Leaves with Nuvo Mousse Toasted Almond.
outline of the cake was die cut three times, twice from pink card stock and the 3rd from sheet foam
one set of the cake die cuts were stencilled with circles using Iridescent Glitz Glitter Gel
stencilled die cuts adhered to the foam ones and attached to the left hand folding panel and the plain pink die cuts were glued to the back side of the panel aligning it to the cake on the front of the panel
Happy birthday Brush Script is a two piece die set. The script was cut from both pink card stock and foam and stacked
the shadow die was cut twice from the pink card stock
script sentiment mounted on one shadow die cut and adhere to the right hand folding panel
second shadow die cut was glued to the back side of the panel aligning it to the shadow on the front of the panel
MINI SLIMLINE Z-FOLD
card stock cut to 6 1/2" by 6 1/4" and scored on the long side at 1 5/8" and 3 1/4"
fold and burnish into a 'Z' fold
outer half of the inside panel stencilled with Simon's Fading Floral Stencil with Nuvo's Russian White Crackle Mousse
stencilled edge finished off with three strips die cut from Pinkfresh Studio's Slim Stripes
multiple candle die cuts were adhered to the inner half of the inside panel
front of the Z fold panel was stamped with various sentiments from Simon's Tiny Words Birthday using Distress Oxide ink, Tattered Rose
just the outline from Simon's Chunky Happy was adhered to the front of the panel
the panel was adhered to a card base measuring 3 1/4" by 6 1/4"
a 1" strip of card stock was cut extra long to create a belly band
the middle third of the strip was scored so it would be about 1/8" wider than the card. On each side, I scored twice 1/16" apart creating a very narrow box. This extra space allows the belly band to removed and replaced on the card with ease.
the band was trimmed, adhered and embellished with Simon's Etched Magnolia Blossom
MINI SLIMLINE TRI-FOLD
card stock cut to 9 3/4" by 6 1/4"
score at 3 1/4" and 6 1/2" on the long side
the folding panel on the right is trimmed down slightly to allow the panel on the left to fold over it
Pinkfresh Studios Slim Stripes comes with 3 different sizes of stripes. 3 panels were created each in a different stripe size. Strips of card stock were cut from the 4 colours of card stock. Copy paper was covered with double sided tape and the strips adhered, alternating the colours, diagonally. The three paper pieced panels were die cut with a die from Simon's Mini Slimline Rectangles
the panel with the thin strips was adhered to the front, followed by the medium and large on the inside panels
the cake and cake stand were die cut from both card stock and foam
the card stock cake and stand were 'embossed' with dies, Simon's Eyelet Arch and Arched Stitching Borders. The second set is no longer available
they were assembled on the foam die cuts
the sentiment, Happy Birthday Brush Script, was cut from paper strips and stacked on a card stock die cut. It was adhered to the middle panel with Simon's Fresh Daisies
a plain card stock panel die cut with Simon's Mini Slimline Rectangles was stamped with a sentiment from Simon's Inside Friendship Messages and adhered to the last panel
Nuvo Glitter Drops White Blizzard were applied to the flames on the candles and the cake was 'decorated' with Nuvo Dream Drops Cloud 9 and Love Potion
MINI SLIMLINE
card stock cut to 6 1/2" by 6 1/4" and scored on the long side at 3 1/4"
several Happy Birthday Brush Script die cuts were adhered to the card base creating a tone on tone background
the cake layers, except the top one, were put through the die cutting machine with Simon's Detail Petal Plate. I took some time to centre the die cuts over the repeating pattern
the cake and stand were assembled on the card front
after the candles were adhered, Nuvo Glitter Drops White Blizzard was applied to the flames
The cake was 'decorated' with Nuvo Dream Drops Cloud 9
