Ink Blended, One Layer Digital Iris

Updated: Jan 12

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Today I am sharing the hope of Spring on a wintry day here in the Okanagan Valley in a an oversized 6" by 6" card featuring Graciellie Designs ‘ Family Love’. This beautiful digital image is on an ink blended background and is Copic coloured.

I printed the iris on both masking paper and cardstock. After cutting out the mask, I die cut my base using the largest circle in Simon Says Stamp 'Thin Circle Frames'. I replaced the fine card stock circle frame with a matte gold one. After the iris was masked, I blended a background using Wilted Violet, Shaded Lilac and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Inks with blending brushes. The ink is more challenging to blend on Neenah and these brushes made it easier! Once I had the first layer of ink down, the blending was smooth sailing!

I Copic coloured the leaves with BG72. 75 and 78. The blush of yellow on the flower was created using Y02, 08 and 18. For the remainder of the iris, I used B60. 63, 66 and 69. The colourless blender was used to accentuate the highlight areas.

I used Tonic Studios 6X6 Card Blanks for my base and adhered black cardstock that I embossed using a quilted embossing folder. The thin gold framed was glued with Tombow glue .... a glue I only use in the following manner! I dotted glue around the frame and let it completely dry. The dried glue is tacky allowing the frame to be repositioned for several minutes. The circle panel was mounted on black sheet foam and centred in the gold frame. I am able to make adjustments to ensure the two are aligned. The panel with the sentiment is ink blended using Shaded Lilac and Wilted Violet and adhered to black cardstock before gluing it on the card. I placed a few sequins finished off with a drop of Nuvo Crystal Drops around the iris and sentiment .... and that completes this oversized card!
