Hello friends! You are going to fall in love with Spellbinder's Large Die Of the Month, Classic Tales! This die set is so special! I love where Spellbinder's has taken this book themed die set .... straight out of the pages of a storybook! Perfect for an inside, display shadow box! Love!
The March "New Subscriber" registration window will be available March 6 - 27th while supplies last.
The shadow box card base was created first. Light blue card stock was cut to 4 1/4" by 11" (A2 size) and scored at 1 1/2" and 5 1/2". The scored lines were creased and burnished.
A second panel of blue card stock was cut to 4 1/4" by 5 1/4" and scored at 1/2" and 4 3/4". A window was cut using a die from the Notched Corner Frames die set. The scored lines were creased after the die cutting.
A pop up mechanism was created with another piece of blue card stock measuring 3" by 4 1/4". It was scored on the short side at 3/4", 1 1/2" and 2 1/4".
Before assembling, the back of the card front which will become the back of the shadow box was lightly inked with Distress Oxide Faded Jeans on the upper half of the panel.
Two hillsides were cut from green card stock using the Color Block Scenic Scape die set.
Please see the VIDEO TUTORIAL for the shadow box assembly.
The trees and house from Classic Tales were assembled first. The elements were adhered in and around the shadow box and finished off with the open book on the bottom of the window.
The book spines were assembled and stacked on the front of the card ensuring not to impede the fold crease. The top of the panel was inked with Distress Oxide Faded Jeans and finished off with leafy branches included in the die set. The flowers are from Four Petal Bloom Reflection. The flower centres and accents were completed with Nuvo Crystal Drops Buttermilk.
The inside panel of the card was decorated with two stacked books.
The sentiment from the BetterPress Plate of the Month was pressed on blue card stock and cut with the coordinating die. This set is also accompanied with an oval die that was used to cut red card stock. The bottom of the oval was trimmed to a flat edge to sit on the stacked books.
The trees were decorated with Nuvo Crystal Drops Buttermilk.
