Inside Tunnel Card featuring Alex Syberia Design’s CHRISTMAS MEMORIES

Merry Christmas, everyone! It is the morning of Christmas Eve and all the preparations for both tonight’s celebration and Christmas Day are complete. I have a few hours to relax today before the cooking begins. I feel most fortunate and grateful to be with my daughter and grandson this Christmas.I am sharing a card I made for my grandson featuring the sweet vintage toy ornaments from CHRISTMAS MEMORIES by Alex Syberia Design. WISHING YOU ALL A HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

I am just going to review how the tunnel card is made. For information on the details to complete this card, please view the video tutorial.

  • Cut two pieces of card stock 5 1/2" by 8 1/2".

  • On one of the pieces, score at 4 1/4" on the long side and then trim 1/2" on what will be the back of the card. Fold and burnish.

  • On the second piece, score at 1/2", 4 1/4" and 4 3/4". Fold and burnish. This frame forms a box card.

  • For the inset panel, cut a piece of card stock 4 1/4" by 5 1/2". Cut a sliver ... less than 1/8", off the top and bottom. Score at 1/4", flip the panel over to the other side and score at 1/4". Fold and burnish.

  • Select two dies from a nesting die set. The largest one will be used to die cut the 4 1/4" by 5 1/2" section of the box card.

  • The smaller die is used to cut the inset panel. Apply 1/8" strips of double sided adhesive to the 1/4" flaps.

  • Remove the adhesive on one side of the inset panel only. Lay it flat inside the panel with the three score lines up along the FIRST of two creases by the window. Fold and burnish.

  • Remove the adhesive on the 1/8” adhesive strip on the other side of the inset panel and close the front of the card on top of it. The inset panel is now fully attached.

  • Add 1/4” double sided tape to the 1/2” flap of the tunnel card insert.

  • Attach the back of the tunnel card insert to the card base with strips of double sided tape. Fold the card flat.

  • Open the front of the card and remove the release paper from the 1/4” double sided tape on the inset panel. Close the front of the card.
