It’s All About The Butterflies featuring Picket Fence Studio’s January Release

Updated: Feb 12, 2023

Hello friends! Today is Picket Fence Studio's February Release! Today's cards feature two of four gorgeous new butterfly introductions. I am featuring the Soar Butterfly Die in two

5" by 7" cards and the third, A2 sized, with the Layered Flaunt Butterfly Stencil and the Flaunt Butterfly Die. There are also two more layered stencil butterflies with coordinating dies in this release; Flit and Wander. These die sets for the stencilled butterflies include sentiments and little butterflies. I love them!

SOAR BUTTERFLY DIE

  • The big and beautiful Soar Butterfly Die includes the butterfly detail and a shadow.

  • Beginning with the card with the black background, the shadow die was used to cut black card stock.

  • Bristol smooth card stock was ink blended with three tones of blue inks. The inked panel and black card stock were cut with the detail die.

  • The black card stock detail die cut was adhered to the black shadow die cut. The blue inked details were inlaid. An additional black die cut of the detail was stacked on the inlaid one to add a touch of dimension.

  • Black card stock was stencilled with Versamark ink using the new Sun With Rays 6 by 8 Stencil. The panel was clear embossed and cut with one of the dies in the 5 by 7 Double Stitched Layering Rectangles set.

  • The panel was adhered to a blue matted 5" by 7" card base.

  • The sentiment from Flit Butterfly Die was cut three times from blue inked card stock and white card stock. The sentiment was stacked and adhered following the curve of stencilled sun.

  • The sun was filled with All About The Blues Sequin Mix.

  • For the card with the yellow background, the blue detail die cut was retained from the previous card ... Two For One!

  • The shadow die was used to cut vellum. Adhesive was applied just to the body of the blue detail of the butterfly to adhere it to the vellum die cut.

  • A white panel of card stock was stencilled with with a rainbow of pastel shades of ink using the Petals 6 by 8 Stencil.

  • Duckling Fuzz Paper Glaze Velvet was applied over the floral background using Sun With Rays 6 by 8 Stencil.

  • The panel was cut with one of the dies in the 5 by 7 Double Stitched Layering Rectangles set.

  • The panel was adhered to a blue matted 5" by 7" card base.

  • The sentiment from Flit Butterfly Die was cut from white card stock three times. The sentiment was stacked and adhered following the curve of stencilled sun.

LAYERED FLAUNT BUTTERFLY STENCIL &

FLAUNT BUTTERFLY DIE

  • Layered Flaunt Butterfly Stencil is a two piece set and the butterfly cut out. Pink ink was applied with Life Changing Blender Brushes using the first layer, the butterfly background.

  • The second stencil, the butterfly detail, was sprayed with Pixie Spray, a temporary adhesive for stencils. It was lined up over the butterfly background using the registration marks on the stencils. True Christmas Red Paper G;itz was applied with a Mixed Media Spatula.

  • I created two butterflies. Adhesive was applied just to the body two adhere them together. The wings of the top butterfly were bent upwards for a dimensional appearance.

  • Die cuts using English Roses Die were adhered to a panel of white card stock sized 4" by 5.25". To create this die cut background, two full die cuts were used and a third was cut apart to fill in open areas.

  • The sentiment included in Flaunt Butterfly Die was cut three times, once from pink inked card stock and two from white the sentiment was stacked.

  • Three of the small butterflies were cut from both white card stock and vellum. Adhesive was applied just to the body two adhere them together. The wings of the vellum butterfly were bent upwards for a dimensional appearance.
