Hello everyone! All my cards are in the mail leaving me ZERO Christmas cards! I want to be on the safe side just in case I have forgotten anybody and have a set of cards that are even quicker than the last set of cards. Do you need a card now? Embossing is the way to go!
Simon Says Stamp has a wonderfull selection of beautiful 3D embossing folders. I, of course, chose SCANDANAVIAN CHRISTMAS right off the bat but did not have other folders Christmas themed suitable for this project. I turned to the ever versatile patterned ones …. TRIANGLE BURST, KALEIDOSCOPE, LUMEN and PINPOINT STARLETS.
The backgrounds were created on oversized Bristol Smooth card stock using Distress Spray Stains; Tattered Rose, Abandoned Coral, Wilted Violet, Speckled Egg, Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon. The inked backgrounds were sprayed with a mixture of Painted Pearls and water. When the panels were dry, they were trimmed to 4 1/4” by 5 1/2” and embossed.
NOT MENTIONED IN THE VIDEO - The panels embossed with Scandinavian Christmas were lightly rubbed with Hero Arts Unicorn White ink catching the high points.
The embossed panels were trimmed to 4” by 5 1/4” and adhere to black card stock sized 4 1/8” by 5 3/8” for a narrow reveal. The card bases are top folding, A2 size.
All of the die cut sentiments, PEACE, CHUNKY JOY, LARGE WRITTEN MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY CHRISTMAS and FA LA LA, have shadow dies. The shadow was cut from black card stock and stacked on a black foam die cut. The script sentiments were cut from the remnants of the ink stained card stock except for LARGE MERRY CHRISTMAS which was cut from copper metallic paper.
The secondary sentiments from Simon’s TINY WORDS CHRISTMAS were embossed with white embossing powder (except one in copper!) on black card stock. The sentiments were cut into strips with Simon’s SENTIMENT LABELS and mounted on foam. The cards were embellished with either Studio Katia’s Pastel Rainbow confetti or Brutus Monroe’s Natural Birch Wood Grain sequins.

Bonnie, you are quickly becoming my favorite go-to card-making artist! I just LOVE your designs! Tell me, what made you think to half-color your cardstock in preparation for how you wanted your large sentiments to look? They look fabulous, of course, but you couldn't have thought of that feature without a fair amount of trial-and-error beforehand ... right???
