Positive Negative Colour Design featuring Spellbinders’ ROMANTIC SLIMLINE BORDERS

Updated: Jan 26, 2022

Hello everyone! I have a pair of cards that together illustrate a fun positive negative colour design technique. These cards feature a couple of beautiful new die sets by Spellbinders; Cinch & Go Blossoms and Romantic Slimline Borders . An easy design method to create a pair of cards!

Three panels were die cut wth borders from the Romantic Slimline Borders for each card. Bristol Smooth card stock was used for the ink blended background and Neenah Classic Crest 110 lb card stock was used for the white background. The ink blending was done with Distress Oxide inks Faded Jeans, Villainous Purple and Picked Raspberry. Additional scraps of Bristol Smooth were inked with these colours to die cut the flowers and sentiment. The base layer for the the white card was navy while the colourful card is white. The top and middle layers of the lacy edge borders were mounted on foam. After the layers were assembled, the panel was adhered to a card base measuring 3 3/4” by 8 3/4”.

The letters for the sentiment are from Spellbinders’ Stitched Thanks. They were die cut from card stock and foam and stacked. The flowers were shaped with ball tools and a molding mat by McGill. The sentiment was adhered first to the card followed by the flowers.

To complete these cards, the flower centres were embellished with iridescent confetti. Additional confetti was placed around the sentiment and flowers. All the confetti was topped with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
