Shape Card featuring Spellbinder’s Hummingbird Create A Card

Hello, everyone! Bibi's Hummingbirds Collection by Spellbinders is gorgeous! My first card features Hummingbird Create a Card. This die set produces a large image perfect for a 5" by 7" card or, as I have done, a fun shape card!

  • The main die for the hummingbird was used to cut through two layers of card stock. The card stock was folded in half and the die positioned so that the top portion of the wing was overhanging the crease. I rolled the die back and forth through the die cutter three times to get a clean cut. The top of wing will form a hinge but the wing tip will missing!

  • This die and the hummingbird detail dies were used to cut Bristol Smooth Card stock.

  • The colouring was done with Distress Oxide Inks and blender brushes ... quick and easy!

  • The main hummingbird was inked with A combination of Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn. The hummingbird's cap was done with MowedLawn and the throats with Wilted Violet. The beak was coloured with Black Soot.

  • There are two layers for the breast; one was done up in Wilted Violet and Back Soot and the other with Wilted Violet and Twisted Citron. When the ink was dry, the hummingbird was assembled.

  • Three leafy branches and flowers were cut from Bristol Smooth Card Stock and coloured with Twisted Citron and Wilted Violet. They were assembled and adhered behind the hummingbird's breast.

  • The hummingbird was aligned and adhered to the shaped card base.

  • A white gel pen and White Nuvo Crystal Drops were used to add details in the wings, tail and around the eye. The white drops pick up the colour of ink turning them to a soft green

  • Black Nuvo Crystal Drops were added to the eye.

  • The sentiment from Birthday Unboxing Hot Foil Plates and Die Set was foiled with Aura Hot Foli on black card stock. The coordinating die was used to cut both the sentiment and black foam. The sentiment was stacked and adhered to the hummingbird's breast.
