Hello everyone! Have you had some time to check out Simon Says Stamp's new release, HAPPY AND JOYFUL! Once again, they have knocked it out of the park with so many amazing new products. I am a big fan of nesting die sets. I know I will use them time and time again and it is nice to be able to highlight a card front with something a little different ... drum roll, please ... A2 MARQUEE! I welcome you to my collection! This three piece die set is sure to be favourite with its pretty dot detail. This panel will highlight some beautiful dry embossed card fronts .... and I have a couple of tips to enhance Simon's deeply etched designs.
Different shades of blue card stock were trimmed down to 3 3/8" by 4 5/8". Each panel was dry embossed with either Triangle Burst, Kaleidoscope or Floral Field. To prepare the panels for embossing, they were sprayed liberally with water. The water loosens the fibres preventing cracking and helps to create deeply etched designs. In my Big Shot, I remove both cutting plates and use 3 pieces of card stock as shims. When the folders are rolled through the die cutter, there should be resistance but not so much that you require a lot of muscle! Forcing the folder through could result in damage. The panels will warp as a result of the water but I let them dry naturally. The panels were then adhered to white sheet foam and left to dry under the weight of a stamping platform ... they will be perfectly flat!
To really enhance the dimension on the embossed panels, a blender brush was used to apply Simon Says Stamp's Pawsitively Saturated ink, Ocean. A light pressure was used so the ink would catch the high points of the etched designs ... when using a dark ink like Ocean, the effect is dramatic! The foam-backed, embossed designs will fit within the dotted detail of the panels die cut with the largest die from A2 Marquee and then on they go to an A2 sized card base!
The die cut details were done in white to emphasize the embossed designs of the panels. All of the sentiments chosen have shadow dies ... Miss You (check out the price of this one in the Supply List!), Warm Hugs and You're the Best.
Some pretty die cut images were added to finish the cards ... Layered Chickadee, Etched Magnolia Blossom and Arched Leaf and Flower Blooms. Confetti from Studio Katia's Sparkling Sea were used to embellish the cards. They were finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
