Hello friends! Are you ready? It’s time for another fabulous release from Simon Says Stamp! The Favourite Things release is perfectly named because there are so many products that are sure to become one of your favourite things! I have a couple of cards featuring an adorable stamp set, Round of Appaws, with several cute images of dogs and cats and, of course, fun and ‘punny’ sentiments!

EASEL CARD

  • The largest die from Nested Domed Arches  was used to create a shaped card base. White cardstock was folded in half and the die positioned so that the top of the arch was overhanging the crease. Two additional panels were cut with this die.

  • A circle die was selected that was larger than the ring die that would be used for the hanging element. To ensure the circles were aligned, the card base was opened up with the other two arch panels aligned on top and run through the die cutter with the circle die. Although the die does not cut through all three panels, it leaves an impression on the bottom two. The die was aligned with these impressions and the panels cut.

  • Using the Hanging Leaf Ring die set, the ring was cut from gold glitter card stock, the flowers from lilac and the leafy sprigs from mint. To add some depth, Pawsitively Saturated Inks Iris and Aspen were added with small blending brushes. The centres of the flowers were finished off with yellow prills.

  • The critters from Round of Appaws were stamped with Copic friendly Memento Ink on white cardstock. The dog was coloured with Copic markers E77, 74 and 71. E55, 53 and 51 was used for the cat. The critters were cut.

  • The leafy sprigs, flowers and critters were adhered to the gold ring. The ring was suspended in the circle die cut with gold embroidery thread sandwiched between the two arch panels.

  • To create the easel, the front panel of the card base was creased 1 inch from the bottom. The circle die cuts of the double arch panel and the cart base were aligned. Adhesive was added just to the 1 inch area below the crease on the card base and the arch panel adhered to it.

  • The brace for the front panel to sit up against when the card is opened was created with two pieces of white cardstock 4 1/4” x 1“ were adhered together and mounted to the inside panel of the card base.

  • One sentiment was stamped on the card front and the second sentiment on the inside of the card on the brace. The card was finished off with a little paw and several Satin Gold Sequins topped off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew .

DIMENSIONAL CARD

  • A panel of Rainbow Ombré Glitter Cardstock was adhered to an A2 sized card base. White cart stock and foam was cut with the Dot Scallop Border.

  • The critters from Round of Appaws were stamped with Copic friendly Memento Ink on scalloped panel. The dog were coloured with Copic markers E77, 74 and 71 and E E55, 53 & 51 / E74, 71 & 70 / E47, 44 & 43 for the cats. A white gel pen was used to brighten up the highlights on the eyes and to add details to the cheeks.

  • The scalloped edge was trimmed off of the foam and the cardstock scallop panel was adhered it. This panel was adhered to the card base.

  • The sentiment was stamped onto the glitter cart stock. It was stamped three times and then clear embossed.

  • Hearts were die cut using the Chunky Hearts Panel Die out of glitter cardstock to coordinate with the base. The hearts were also cut from foam and then stacked and adhered above the critters.

  • The card was embellished with Nuvo Crystal Drops Simply White.
