Oh my goodness! Spellbinder's Large Die Of the Month, Whale in a Bottle, is AMAZING! I absolutely love this die set! If you saw my previous post, Glimmer of the Month for June, the whale from this set was put into action in another card. There are so many possibilities to use the whale and the bottle separately or together. I am thinking a terrarium for another card!
The June "New Subscriber" registration window will be available June 6 - 27th while supplies last.
The outline die for the bottle was used to create the card base. An 8 1/2" by 11" piece of Neenah Classic Crest 110lb card stock was creased down the middle lengthwise. The die was positioned so the left side cutting edge of the die was overhanging the crease and it was rolled through the die cutter.
The detail background bottle die was used to cut Kraft card stock for the oval base section and blue and white vellum paper for the mid and top sections.
The Kraft oval was sprinkled with a sand mix embossing powder. To melt the powder without it blowing off, the heat was applied to the underside of the panel.
The vellum panels were fed through a Xyron Sticker Maker for a consistent, thin layer of adhesive that will not show through the vellum..
The three sections for the background were adhered to the card base.
The waves were cut from both vellum paper in blue and green and white card stock. The vellum waves were fed through the sticker maker and adhered to the card stock waves.
The waves were layered onto the area between the white and blue vellum background.
The crescent shaped detail for the mouth of the bottle was cut from light blue card stock and adhered.
The cork stopper has four die cuts and were cut from Kraft card stock. The edges were lightly inked with Distress Oxide Ink Walnut Stain.
The cork detail die cuts were adhered to the base die cuts. The top and bottom of the cork were adhered to either side of the detail die cut on the mouth of the bottle.
The string was cut from Kraft card stock, lightly ink with Walnut Stain and adhered to the neck of the bottle.
There are two sentiments for the tag; HI and FOR YOU. The FOR YOU die was centred in the tag die to cut peach card stock. The tag die alone was used to cut black card stock and the peach one adhered on top. The tag end was fed through the string and adhered to the bottle.
The whale was cut from white and black card stock, assembled and adhered over the dimensional waves with foam adhesive squares.
The rock was cut from grey card stock and texture added with clear embossing powder using the same technique for the oval 'Sandy' base. It was adhered with foam squares.
The seaweed and coral were cut from mint and light and dark peach card stock and arranged on the oval base.
The splash detail was cut from light blue card stock and adhered above the Whalen's tail.
The card was embellished with Aura Opalescent Sequins.
Both the sequins and the splash details were finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
