Hello everyone! I have three cards using three mediums to share with you featuring a gorgeous plate, Cosmos Backdrop BetterPress from Spellbinder's Pressed Posies Collection. This plate can be purchased on its own or in a bundle, Cosmos Backdrop BetterPress and Stencil Bundle. The sentiments for all three cards are from You Are Everything Sentiments Press Plate & Die Set and have been foam mounted. And yes, one pressing and one pass through the die cutter gives you 12 all occasion sentiments!
Cosmos are such beautiful flowers and remind me of large sweeping flower beds in a former home where the plantings were never complete without a scattering of Cosmos seed. So here we are, three cards ... each in a different medium. I am starting with the one that is the most time consuming, water colour, and working my way through to the quick and easy card ... stencilling.
Water Colour
Using the BetterPress Letterpress System, a Porcelain BetterPress A2 Cotton Card Panel was pressed with Cosmos Backdrop BetterPress . The plate was inked with black BetterPress ink and pressed. If you are not familiar with this system, an introduction tutorial is available. Click HERE. You will be redirected to YouTube.
The colouring was done with Mijello Mission Gold water colours using a wet on wet technique. Simply, an area is wetted with water and paint dropped in. Click HERE for a tutorial on this technique.
For the flowers, I used Rose Madden, Vermillion and Crimson Lake. The leaves were painted with Yellow Light and Olive. Yellow light was also used for the centres of the flowers.
The panel was spattered with Dr. PH Martin's Bleedproof White.
The panel was trimmed to 3 3/4" by 5" and mounted on a black matted, A2 sized card base.
Pigment Powders
Using the BetterPress Letterpress System, a Porcelain BetterPress A2 Cotton Card Panel was pressed with Cosmos Backdrop BetterPress. The plate was inked with Versamark ink, pressed and embossed with white embossing powder.
I worked with a combination of Nuvo Shimmer Powders and Colorburst pigment powders.
The powders were tapped onto the wet paper; Lilac Waterfall for the flowers, Falling Leaves on the leaves and Terre Verte on the background,

The panel was spattered with Dr. PH Martin's Bleedproof White.
The panel was trimmed to 3 3/4" by 5" and mounted on a black matted, A2 sized card base.
Stencilling
For this card, Cosmos Backdrop BetterPress and Stencil Bundle was used. The stencil set includes five layering stencils for quick and easy colouring.
Using the BetterPress Letterpress System, a panel of pink card stock was pressed with Cosmos Backdrop BetterPress. The plate was inked with Versamark ink, pressed and embossed with gold embossing powder.
Distress Oxide inks were used and applied to the stencils using daubers.
The flowers were inked at the base of the petals with Spun Sugar and blended out to the petal's edge with pigment white ink. The flower centres were coloured with Scattered Straw.
The leaves were stenciled with Crushed Olive and Scattered Straw.
The panel was spattered with Distress Stain Tarnished Brass.
The panel was trimmed to 3 3/4" by 5" and mounted on a black matted, A2 sized card base.
