Hello friends! Spring is in the air! And what better way to celebrate the warm weather than with Spellbinder’s wonderful collection by Simon Hurley, The Sky’s The Limit. This collection is all about kites … young or old, spectator or flyer, a sky full of kites brings joy to all!

Today’s cards features Layered Flying Kites, a fun and playful set of six stencils. The coordinating embossing folder, Flying Kites 3-D Embossing Folder , adds some dimensional detail. The cards are finished off with the press plate set, Soaring Sentiments, with many different choices to compliment this theme.

  • For both cards, clouds were stenciled on the background using Distress Oxide Inks. For one card, Mermaid Lagoon and Stormy Sky were used. Saltwater Taffy and Spun Sugar were used for the other one.

  • The ink used for the kite stencilling completed with the Layered Flying Kites Layered Stencils set was in done in Fresh Dye Inks. Puffy Heart, Cosmic Berry, Arctic Mountain, Icy Water, Aqualicious and Galactic Stream were used to stencil the kites on the blue clouds panel.

  • Puffy Heart, Cosmic Berry, Wisteria, Ultraviolet, Cherry Sweet and Cotton Candy were used on the pink clouds panel.

  • The pink clouds panel was cut with one of the dies from the Perfect Arches set.

  • Both panels were embossed with Flying Kites 3-D Embossing Folder and popped up with foam to adhere them to A2 sized card bases.

  • Soaring Sentiments Press Plate and Die Set is a great sentiment set themed around kite flying. The eight sentiments are pressed all at once and then cut with one die. The sentiments were pressed on BetterPress paper. The die was also used to cut foam. The sentiments were stacked and adhered to the card fronts.
