Spellbinder's Wistful Window

Hello everyone! I am excited to share two cards featuring Spellbinder's intricate and beautiful Wistful Window die set from the Amazing Paper Grace collection! I love that this seven piece die set can accommodate many sizes of cards. For today's cards, I have created a 5" by 7" card and one that is A2 sized.

A2 Sized Card

I worked with the five smaller dies to cut black card stock to create the 'wistful window' for this card. Each 'window' is created with two dies; the detail and the outline. The largest window was adhered directly to a top folding, Neenah Classic Crest 110 lb card base. The smaller window was was mounted on white cardstock and white sheet foam before being adhered to the larger window. The Thank You sentiment, from Spellbinder's Elegant Occasion Sentiments, was hot foiled with matte foil on black card stock and cut with the oval die included in the Wistful Window set. Black foam was also cut with this die and the sentiment stacked before being adhered to the card. The secondary sentiment, Forever Grateful, from Spellbinder's Mini Everyday Sentiments was also hot foiled with matte gold foil and die cut with a flagged die strip that accompanies the set. It was also mounted on black foam.

The card was embellished with flowers and leaves from Spellbinder's Button and Daisy Chrysanthemum die set. The flowers were inked with Distress Oxide inks Worn Lipstick and Spun Sugar. Peeled paint was used for the leaves. After the flowers were adhered, a dome of Nuvo Crystal Drops Gold Mustard was applied to each flower centre. The card was finished off with gold confetti topped with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.

5" by 7" Card

For this card, I used the four largest dies in the Wistful Window die set to create an ornate stained glass window. The dies were used to cut black card stock for the window frame and green, orange and blue vellum for the inlaid design. The black frame was adhered to a side folding, 5' by 7" card base. The vellum die cuts were inlaid to create a faux stained glass look.

Tip ... When adhering the vellum, a thin layer of white, clear drying glue was 'painted' over the entire area of the die cut. This method ensures the glue is not visible when the piece is inlaid.

The sentiment, Wishing You A Happy Birthday from Let Your Sentiments Shine Brighter, was foiled on white card stock with matte gold foil and die cut with the smallest rectangular outline window die and mounted on white foam. The secondary sentiment, Hello, Sweet Friend, from Spellbinder's Mini Everyday Sentiments was also hot foiled with matte gold foil and die cut with a flagged die strip that accompanies this sentiment set. It was also mounted on white foam. This card was also embellished with flowers and leaves from Spellbinder's Button and Daisy Chrysanthemum die set. The flowers were inked with Distress Oxide ink Faded Jeans. Peeled paint was used for the leaves and Squeezed Lemonade for the centres.. The flowers and leaves were spattered with slightly watered down, white gouache and black water colour paint. A small paint brush was used to achieve a fine spatter. Each flower was glued to two to three leaves. The floral clusters were then adhered to the corner of the white panel. The card was finished off with clear confetti topped with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
