Spellbinders’ BetterPress Plate of the Month for February

Writer's picture: Bonnie CraneBonnie Crane

Hello friends! Spellbinders’ BetterPress of the Month, Luxe Damask, creates beautiful backgrounds that remind me of tiles. I love that the press plate includes a registration template for easy repeat letterpressing for an ‘all over design’. For a classic look, I have pressed the image with black ink on cream cardstock.

The February "New Subscriber" registration window will be open February 6th to the 27th. Sign up in February and receive the current design.

  • The press plate was used in conjunction with the registration template. The plate was pressed three times with the Full Size Black BetterPress Ink Pad on cream cardstock measuring 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” for an overall design.

  • The sentiment included in the BetterPress of the Month was also pressed on cream cardstock. The sentiment and black foam were cut with coordinating dies and the sentiment stacked.

  • The panel was adhered to a black, A2 card base.

  • Black cardstock and black foam were cut with the small rectangular die included in the Large Die of the Month. They were stacked and adhered to the centre of the panel.

  • Using the Butterfly Blooms 3D Emboss & Cut Folder, the small and medium sized butterflies were embossed on cream cardstock.

  • Colour was added to the butterflies using a small blending brush to apply Distress Oxide Inks Spun Sugar and Lemonade.

  • After the sentiment was mounted diagonally across the small black panel, the butterflies were adhered. The wings were bent up and the bodies adhered with liquid adhesive and foam squares placed under the wings.

  • The card was embellished with Satin Gold Sequins finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
