Spellbinders House-Mouse Sweet Moments Collection featuring Cheers & Wishing for Spring

Hello friends! I am a huge fan of Spellbinders’ House-Mouse Designs. I just love how these sweet little mice capture life‘s special moments. My cards feature the newly released Cheers & Wishing For Spring from the Sweet Moments Collection.

I decided to use a different medium for each card. Cheers has been Copic coloured and sits on an ink blended background. Wishing For Spring is done up in water colours. I used Mijello Mission Gold.

  • The image and sentiment were stamped with black ink on Canson XL Watercolour Paper. After the stamping, it was coated with clear embossing powder. The embossed image makes it easier to add in the watercolour background.

  • A circle stencil was placed on the horizon of the image. I began by adding in blue watercolour on the surface that had already been coated with water. Touches of yellow were added

  • A light colour wash of blue paint was added to the landscape.

  • To color the mouse and crocus, Zig markers were used.

  • The panel was spattered with Splatter White Opaque Watercolor.

  • Snowy texture was added with Nuvo Stone Drops Chalk White.

  • The panel was trimmed to 3 3/4” by 5” and adhered to black, A2 sized card base.

  • This image was stamped with COPIC friendly Memento Ink on Bristol Smooth Cardstock.

  • The ink blended background was done with Distress Oxide Inks. The top of the panel and the left-hand side were masked off with Post-it Note Tape and Faded Jeans was applied. The edges were darkened with Black Soot . Picked Raspberry, Tumbled Glass and Fossilized Amber were used to create an ink blend around the image. The image was not masked; rather, small blending brushes were used to apply the ink around the image, and then switching to larger brushes in the more open areas.

  • The grapes were coloured with BV17 and 11. YG99, 95 and 91 were used for the leaves and stems. The mouse was done up in E74, 55 and 51 with a touch of RV52 on the cheeks, nose, and the inside of the ears.

  • The panel was trimmed to 3 3/4” by 5” and adhered to a white panel measuring 4” by 5 1/4“. These layered panels were then adhered to the upper left hand corner of a black, A2 sized card base.

  • Clear confetti was used to embellish the card. It was finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
