Spellbinders Large Die of the Month for August

Hello everyone! I am in love with Spellbinders’ Strawberry Patch Large Die of the Month! What a sweet die set! It was so much fun to work with and it is easily put together for a pretty, summertime card! The finishing touch is a beautiful sentiment from the Small Die of the Month, Outlined Sentiments.

All the die cutting was completed first. The strawberries were put together with two die cuts. I used a deep red for the base and adhered a lighter tone on top. The strawberries were mounted on foam die cut with the base die. Two shades of green were chosen for the stem and leaves. The main stem/ leaves was cut with the darker tone. Layering dies are provided for the leaves and these were cut with the lighter shade. The main stem/ leaves was also mounted on a foam die cut. Several small leaves for the crown of the strawberry and little white blossoms with yellow centres were die cut .

The die cuts was assembled on Cosmic Sky card stock measuring 4” by 5 1/4” and mounted on a black matted, A2 sized card base. The small leaves for the strawberries were set aside. Nuvo Crystal Glaze was applied to the berries and the panel was set aside until it was completely dry. The leaves forming the crown were adhered and white Nuvo Crystal Drops were used to apply highlight lines and dots over the glaze. I practiced on scrap card stock first!

The card was finished up with a beautiful and delicate sentiment from the Small Die of the Month, Outlined Sentiments, die cut from red and green card stock and slightly offset. These sentiments also include a shadow die which was not used for this card. The script is very fine. I adhered the card stock to double-sided adhesive paper before die cutting. I wanted to avoid dealing with liquid adhesive oozing out from the die cut!
