Spellbinders’ Large Die of the Month for January

Hello everyone! Spellbinders' Large Die of the Month is a very large, gorgeous set made up of many florals and foliage. I am absolutely in love with these dies. Today's card is a pretty floral design on a colour blocked background. The colour blocking adds a subtle touch of interest to the floral design and is easy to do .... my mantra ... EASY TO DO!

  • Bristol Smooth card stock was colour blocked with blending brushes and Distress Oxide inks beginning with one third of the left hand side using a combination of Black Soot, Villainous Potion and Picked Raspberry. This area was masked with Post It Note Tape.

  • Working on the other two thirds of the panel, the bottom third was masked and inked with Black Soot, Villainous Potion and Picked Raspberry ... again!

  • Masking each section, the middle section was inked with Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar and the top one with Spun Sugar and Squeezed Lemonade.

  • The panel was trimmed to 4" x 5 1/4" and adhered to a black top folding, A2 sized card base.

  • The flowers and leaves were cut from Bristol Smooth card stock.

  • The flowers were inked with blending brushes using Distress Oxide inks Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry or Spun Sugar.

  • Simon Says Stamp's Pawsitively Saturated Inks Limelicious and Pearfection were used on the leaves.

  • The flowers were put together and hand shaped.

  • The two layered flowers were first adhered with a foam square on the top and bottom of the colour blocked panel.

  • The sentiment from the January Clear Stamp of the Month was stamped in the middle colour block with Black Versafine ink.

  • The rest of the flowers were then positioned in combination with the leaves to complete the composition.

  • Clear crystals were adhered to the centres of the flowers and a combination of pink and black crystals were used to embellish the card.
