Spellbinders’ Nature’s Botanical Garden featuring Flowering Quince

Hello friends! Spellbinders’ Nature’s Botanical Garden Collection by Susan Tierney-Cockburn is gorgeous. Although difficult to choose one, if pressed, I think Flowering Quince is my favourite. There is something about clusters of flowers that I just love.

  • The flower die from Flowering Quince was cut from coral card stock 6 times. The centres and petals’ edges were inked with white pigment ink.

  • The stamens were cut from cream card stock. After rolling them up, adhesive was added to the tips and they were dipped in You Had Me At Yellow Prills.

  • After the prills were dry, the flowers were assembled using Susan’s Garden Ultimate Tool Kit. The flowers were shaped with the medium ball tool.

  • The branch was die cut from both cream card stock and black sheet foam and stacked.

  • For the background, a colour wash was created using Mijello Mission Gold paints on water colour paper. Using a wet on wet technique, the paper was liberally coated with water and pink and orange tones dropped in.

  • When the panel was completely dry, both it and the flowers and branch were spattered using a fan brush with Spatter White Opague Water Color.

  • The panel was cut with a die from the Arch Labels & Tag die set and adhered to an A2 sized, black card base.

  • The Woven Lattice Texture Die was used to cut matte gold card from the Treasured Card Stock Gold Assortment and black sheet foam. It was stacked and adhered at an angle over the arch.
