Spellbinders’ The Spotlight Frames and Florals Collection

Hello friends! Spellbinder’s Spotlight Frames and Florals is a gorgeous collection of sweet backgrounds and layering die cut florals. For these three card examples, I have used Layered Anemone, Layered Iris, Woven Lattice Texture and Stitched Edge Circle Backgrounds.

The three card examples are A2 size; 4 1/4” by 5 1/2”. The blooms from Layered Anemone and Layered Iris were cut from Bristol Smooth Card Stock and inked using the Micro Blending Brush Set. I found it helpful to place the die cuts on the SlimGrip Sticky Mat. Fresh Dye Inks were used for colouring the flowers. The die cut sentiments are from either Everyday Sentiments or Fresh Picked Sentiments and were stacked on foam die cuts.

  • Mahogany card stock was embossed with the Classic Backdrop 3D Embossing Folder and adhered to a black card base.

  • The Woven Lattice Texture was cut from both gold card stock and black foam and stacked. It was adhered at an angle onto the card front.

  • The iris was coloured with tones from the Red Sunset Fresh Dye Inks and the foliage with Nature’s Wonders Fresh Dye Inks. The stem and base of the flower were cut from foam and stacked.

  • The stitched circle from Stitched Edge Circle Backgrounds was cut from vellum and the iris adhered to it. Dots of adhesive were hidden behind the flower to attach the circle to the lattice. When working with vellum, I use Tombow adhesive letting it dry until it is tacky. This will prevent the vellum from wrinkling.

  • This card is a subtle shaker! The plain die from Stitched Edge Circle Backgrounds was used cut both white card stock and sheet foam. Acetate was sandwiched between the two. Two tones of blue and white confetti were placed in the shaker pocket and a dark blue card stock panel was adhered to the back of the shaker panel. The independent shaker was mounted onto the card base.

  • The decorative lattice die from the same die set was cut from white card stock and adhered to the acetate.

  • The Layered Anemone blooms were coloured with tones from Cool Summer Night Fresh Dye Inks and the foliage was done with Nature’s Wonders Fresh Dye Inks.

  • The card was embellished with the same confetti used in the shaker. They were finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
