Easy Shaker Card Ideas featuring Spellbinders’ A2 FILIGREE MARQUIS

Updated: Jan 17, 2022

Hello everyone! Spellbinders newly released A2 FILIGREE MARQUIS is comprised of a set of 8 dies. The open nature of the design makes this set perfect to create shaker cards. And with all those dies, they can be configured in many ways! I have used this as an opportunity to create birthday cards … I never seem to have enough on hand!

This DOUBLE STACKED SHAKER CARD was created with an ink blended panel using Distress Oxide inks Shaded Lilac, Cracked Pistachio and Peacock Feathers. This 4” by 5” panel was placed on top of a light blue card stock panel of the same size and die cut with the inside edge die for the frame; die cutting the 1st panel and creating an impression on the 2nd one. The die was then positioned on the indentation on the blue card stock and die cut. The ink blended die cut was inlayed on the blue panel to form the base for the shaker. The ink blended frame was die cut with the frame detail die. Matte silver card stock and foam were die cut with the inside edge die. The ink blended frame was adhered to the silver one. A piece of acetate was adhered to the frame and mounted on the foam. Silver confetti was placed on the base and top of the shaker adhered to it. This shaker was attached to a top folding, A2 sized card base.

The small shaker was constructed similarly using the Marquis detail and outline dies. For the foam, Darice foam strips were used around the perimeter of the Marquis. A blue mix confetti was used for the shaker material. The independent Marquis shaker was adhered to the base shaker and finished off with silver die cut script sentiments stacked on ink blended shadows using Spellbinders’ LAYERED MIX & MATCH SENTIMENTS. The card was embellished with three small flowers cut with dies included in the A2 FILIGREE MARQUIS die set.

The fun SLIMLINE WITH TWO INDEPENDENT SHAKERS was created with just the Marquis detail and outline dies. These two dies were used together to cut the Marquis from rainbow holographic card stock. The outline die was used to die cut the black card stock panel measuring 3 3/4” by 8 7/8” and black sheet foam. Acetate was adhered to the black card stock panel and then onto the foam. The Marquis die cuts were attached to the acetate. Another panel of black card stock the same size as the foam mounted panel was cut. Rainbow confetti was placed in two areas of this panel and the top adhered to it. The shaker was then attached to a black card base. The sentiments from Spellbinders’ MINI EVERYDAY SENTIMENTS were foiled on card stock and mounted on foam strips in rainbow order as were the the confetti embellishments. The confetti was finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.

The final SHAKER WITH A FOILED ACETATE SENTIMENT began with dark grey card stock measuring 5“ by 4” cut with both the frame detail and inside edge dies. Lilac card stock and sheet foam were cut with just the inside edge die. The two card stock panels were adhered together. A piece of heat resistant acetate was used to foil the sentiment using Spellbinders’ LET YOUR SENTIMENTS SHINE BRIGHTLY. The acetate was adhered to the frame and the frame onto the foam. A panel of grey card stock was cut to the same size as the frame and a lilac/gold sequin mix was mounded in the centre before adhering the foam backed panel. The shaker was mounted on a matte gold panel sized 4 1/8” by 5 3/8” and then onto an A2 sized card base. The card was embellished with lilac, blue violet and gold flowers and leaves. The centres of the flowers were finished off with small gold pearls.
