Hello, everyone! It is indeed a strange summer where I live. Penticton relies heavily on tourism and the typical surge in population during this time of year is not happening. It is apparent wherever I go ... a few businesses closing, services limited, the beaches and parks sparsely populated, traffic not bumper to bumper! In the moment, some of the spin offs from Covid seem positive until one considers the long term impact. But we hang in there! I met with a group of crafty friends today at one of our local beaches for lunch. We brought our folding chairs and bagged lunches, sat the appropriate distance apart and enjoyed our time together! We do what we can to stay safe and come up with ways to stay connected.
Today's card features Graciellie Design's Coffee and Ice Cream. This digital bundle is a super fun set of fun images and sentiments. The sentiment on this card actually inspired the design. What is the opposite of vanilla? In my mind, rainbows!
The Background
Clouds were stencilled using Simon Says Stamps, Clouds for Days. I created a billowy rainbow with Distress Oxide Inks Wilted Violet, Faded Jeans, Broken China, Twisted Citron, Squeezed Lemonade, Carved Pumpkin and Picked Raspberry. The panel was trimmed to 3 3/4" by 9" and adhered to a side folding, card base. The card base, 4" by 9 1/4", was made from Neenah Solar White 110lb card stock. The clouds were trimmed with White Blizzard Nuvo Drops.
The Elements
I printed several images on Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock for this card and with plans to make other cards. All of the images were cut on the line with a Scan 'n Cut 2. Super fast .... why do I still fussy cut?!!! The ice cream scoops were coloured with a mini ink blending tool using the same ink colours used for the background. The cone was coloured with Frayed Burlap and Walnut Stain.
Putting It All Together
The cone was adhered to black sheet foam. The first scoop was glued to the cone and a foam square attached to top before adhering it to the background panel. Each scoop had a foam square attached to the top before being glued to the top of the previous one. The sentiment was also adhered to black sheet foam before being glued to black card stock and attached to the card. The card was embellished with Nuvo drops that corresponded with the cloud colours; Ripened Pumpkin, Double Denim, Apple Green, Bubblegum Blush, Violet Galaxy, Duck Egg Blue and Dandelion Yellow.
