Spooky Vignettes on Treat Bags and a Slim Line Welcome to Trick or Treaters

Do you have some favourite trick or treaters? I know you aren’t supposed to, but I do! I am using Picket Fence Studios newly released Cat Plays Fiddle to the Silver Moon to create fun treat bags. A perfect set for vignettes! These were super fun to make! I also have a fun card featuring Such A Fright … a welcoming window scene for all the trick or treaters!

CAT PLAYS FIDDLE TO THE SILVER MOON

The three images in Cat Plays Fiddle to the Silver Moon were stamped two times each on white card stock with Black Hybrid Ink and cut with the coordinating dies. I am working with white bags that measure 3 1/2" by 6 3/4". Post It Note Tape was used to mask off a rectangle on the bags. All of the bags were inked using a Life Changing Blender Brush and Distress Oxide Inks. Black Soot followed by Hickory Smoke were applied to the bottom of the rectangle. The blends were finished off with a third colour for each of the pair of bags; Wilted Violet, Red Barn and Mowed Lawn. Bats and a spooky tree were stencilled on to four of the bags using A2 Cauldron of Bats and Welcome to the Graveyard A2 Blending Stencil . Ghosts were created on the cat bags using a blender brush and white pigment ink.

The images were Copic Coloured:

  • Cat - YG05, E43, 44

  • Hand - YG05, V06, 09, W4

  • Bat - RV34, W4, 6, YG05

The sentiments were stamped on to the bottom of each of the bags with Black Hybrid Ink and the images adhered to the bags.

Strips of cardstock inked with the main colour and Hickory Smoke from the bags were cut into 1" strips and die cut with the Happy Halloween Word Die They were adhered to black card stock and the handles attached with strong double sided tape.

SUCH A FRIGHT

Bristol Smooth cardstock measuring 3 1/4" by 8 1/4" were ink blended with Life Changing Blender Brushes using Simon Says Stamp's Pawsitively Saturated inks; Flannel, Morning and Twilight and Picket Fence Studios' Black Hybrid ink. Before inking the moon was masked. A small Life Changing Blender Brush was used to apply Flannel in horizontal bands over the moon. A few bats were stencilled with Black Hybrid Ink using A2 Cauldron of Bats . The pumpkins from Such A Fright were stamped with Sherbert, Cantaloupe and Melon. The tops of the pumpkins were masked simply with Post It Note Tape and Field was used to ink the stems. The images were clear embossed and Citrine was applied with a small Life Changing Blender Brush, After inking using this resist technique, the ink sitting on the embossed areas was buffed off. The coordinating dies were used to cut the images.

Window Seat to the World was used to create the scene to showcase the pumpkins. The curtains and cat were stamped with white pigment ink on black card stock. The window ledge was stamped with Distress Oxide Ink Walnut Stain on ivory card stock. These images were cut with the coordinating dies. The sentiment from Here For All the Boos was stamped with ink. The die cut images were laid out on the background to position it. The panel was mounted on foam and adhered to a black matted card base measuring 3 1/2" by 8 1/2". The ledge and curtains were also adhered with foam and the cat and pumpkins attached.
