Hello, everyone! I am excited and honoured to be participating in another release by Alex Syberia Designs. All the images are gorgeous! The ones I selected to highlight are very tropical ... except the cactus! The cactus is more in keeping with the arid region where I live ... so I had to include it!
This post will provide an overview of how each of the four cards were made. Tropical Bouquet includes a video tutorial.
When working with an ink blended background, I typically choose the background colours and let that direct where I go from there. But not this time ... the flowers took the lead! The image was printed on Neenah Solar White Classic Crest 80lb card stock. I divided the image about 2/3 of the way down. The floral bouquet was coloured with Copic markers;
Hibiscus - BV02,04,08 Stamens - Y13, 17
Plumeria - R000, 43, 46 Leaves - BG90, 93, 96,99 and BV000, 00, 02, 04
I used my Scan and Cut to cut the image leaving a 1/8" border. I am not that proficient with the cutting machine so could only manage the outline and relied on a craft knife to remove the background pieces in the interior of the image. The background panel was ink blended with Distress Oxide Inks Candied Apple and Fossilized Amber. Cocktail anyone!!? This panel was die cut with a stitched rectangle die. The sentiment, Pinkfresh Studio's My Favorite Things to Say, was stamped with Versamark ink and gold embossed twice. The ink blended panel was mounted on blue violet card stock before being adhered to an A2 sized Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110lb card base. Black Nuvo drops were added to the centres of the plumeria and Mustard Gold added a few additional embellishments.

The image was printed on Neenah 80lb card stock and copic coloured:
Plumeria - R000, 20, 22 Flower Buds - R22, 46
Leaves - YG01, 07, 09
The background was stencilled with a Hero Arts stencil and Russian White Nuvo Crackle Mousse. The image was glued to white sheet foam and fussy cut. The card was finished up by attaching the stencilled background to a Neenah 110lb card base and then adhering the floral image. The die cut sentiment and sentiment strip were also mounted on foam.
The image was printed on Neenah 80lb card stock and copic coloured:
Flowers - BV02,04,08, RV91, 93, 95, Y00, 13, 17
Stamens - Y13, 17
Leaves - BG72, 75, 78,90, 93, 96, 99
The panel was die cut with a stitched rectangle die and mounted on blue violet card stock before being adhered to an A2 sized Neenah 110lb card base. Sequins topped up with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew add some additional highlights to the card.
The image was printed on Canson watercolour paper and painted with Mijello Mission Gold paints. The image was painted one section at a time using a wet on wet technique. An area was wetted, colours dropped in and left to mostly dry before adding more paint to build up the tonal variations. When the image was completely dry, the background was painted with soft blue and rose tones. The sentiment was stamped with black Versafine ink. The panel was die cut with a stitched rectangular die and mounted on green card stock before being adhered to a Neenah 110lb card base.
That wraps up the cards I made for Alex Syberia Design's July Release. You can check out the entire release at https://www.etsy.com/shop/AlexSyberiaDesign
