Spellbinders 'SUNFLOWER AND LADYBUGS' is gorgeous! These flowers give me hope that winter will soon give way to warmer weather. I chose bold, summery colours to showcase the softer water colour tones of the sunflowers … which, by the way, is one of my favourite garden and field flowers! They just make me feel happy! And I hope they have the same effect on you!
Three panels of Bristol Smooth card stock were ink blended with Distress Oxide inks:
Rustic Wilderness, Mowed Lawn, Shabby Shutters
Candied Apple, Abandoned Coral, Spun Sugar
Faded Jeans, Peacock Feathers, Tumbled Glass
The sunflowers were die cut from Canson XL water colour paper. For each flower,
3 layers of petals
2 flower centres
3 to 4 medium and large leaves
The seeds were die cut from black construction paper.
Mijello Mission Gold water colours were used to paint the flowers, front and back. The backside of the die cuts were just given a wash of colour.
petals - washed with yellow and deeper yellow placed at the base of the petals
flower centres - painted with orange and deeper yellow
leaves - washed with light green and dark green dropped in here and there. Sponged to create texture.
The blue panel was die cut with two dies from the Mini Slimline & Envelope Nested Card Creator. Black foam was cut with the smaller of the two dies and the ink blended panel mounted on it. The outer frame was adhered to black card stock followed by the foam backed panel. The panel was adhered to a card base measuring 6 3/4" by 3 3/4". The die cut sentiment from Layered Mix & Match Sentiments was die cut several times from blue, navy and yellow card stock and stacked. The secondary sentiment from Mini Everyday Sentiments was hot foiled and mounted on foam. The card was embellished with confetti finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
The green panel was hot foiled in black with two plates from Mini Slimline Glimmer Dots and cut with one of the dies from Mini Slimline & Envelope Nested Card Creator . The panel was mounted on foam and then adhered to a black card panel and a card base measuring 6 3/4" by 3 3/4". The die cut sentiment from Layered Mix & Match Sentiments was die cut from green card stock and foam and stacked. The secondary sentiment from Mini Everyday Sentiments was hot foiled on green card stock and mounted on foam. The card was embellished with confetti finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
The red panel was trimmed to 3 1/4" by 6 1/4" and the lower portion die cut with the rectangle die from Layered Stitch Background. Ivory card stock was also cut from this die. The panel was mounted on black card stock and the ivory rectangle inlaid. The ink blended rectangle was cut with the dot detail die and adhered to the ivory rectangle. The two layering dies were used to cut ivory card stock two times each and they were stacked. The layers were mounted on the dot detail panel. The sentiment from Layered Mix & Match Sentiments was die cut from a left over piece of the ink blended panel and foam and stacked.
